How To Use Testosterone Gel Correctly

This medication includes a medication guide and instructions for patients. It is essential to read these guidelines thoroughly and adhere to them. If you have any uncertainties, don’t hesitate to consult your doctor. Androgel and Fortesta are offered in single-use packets or a multi-dose pump. Vogelxhasin has three options: single-use packets, a multi-dose pump, or a tube.

If you’re using the pump gel for the first time, prime it before dispensing your initial dose. Hold the pump over a sink and press downward at least three times for Androgel or Vogelo or eight times for Fortesa until you see the gel flowing smoothly. Any gel that spills into the sink should be rinsed down the drain.

Next, place your palm beneath the pump and press it down twice to get your correct dosage. If you’re using foil packets instead of a pump, carefully tear open the packet along its perforation. Squeeze all its contents directly onto your skin where you intend to apply it; alternatively, you can pour it into your palm before using it.

Axiron comes in two forms: a pump bottle and a twist bottle.

For the pump bottle, prime it before your first use. Hold it over a sink and press the pump fully at least three times. Let the medicine go down the drain. Then, place your hand under the pump and push it the correct number of times to get your dose.

For the twist bottle, also prime it before your first use. Hold it over a sink and twist the dose dial. Let the medicine go down the drain, and repeat this twice. After priming, twist the dose dial 180 degrees once to get your correct dose.

AndroGel comes in two strengths:

AndroGel 1 and AndroGel 1.62. They are applied to the skin differently. Only change your dose if your doctor advises you to do so.

  • Apply AndroGel(r) 1% to dry, clean, and intact skin on the upper arms, shoulders, and abdomen (stomach) or stomach, unless your physician advises you to apply it to other body parts. AndroGel (r) 1.62% is best applied to dry, clean skin on the upper and lower arms and shoulders. Fortesta(r) is best applied to dry, clean, intact skin on the front or inner thighs. VogelxoTM is best applied to dry, clean, intact skin on the upper or shoulder area. Don’t apply VogelxoTM on your stomach or abdomen. Do not apply this medication to your scrotum or penis. Don’t apply the medicine to the skin with a scratch, cut, or any other type of injury.
  • Let the gel dry to your skin before you put it on with clothes (e.g., shorts, jeans, and a shirt).
  • You should wait at least 2 minutes (for AndroGel(r) 1.62%, Fortesta(r), and Vogelxo(TM)) or 5 hours (for AndroGel(r) 1.1%) when you apply this medication before bathing or showering.

To apply the topical solution:

  • Apply an antiperspirant spray or deodorant for at least 2 minutes before you apply this spray.
  • Apply Axiron(r) on every dry, clean, healthy skin layer of your underarms using an applicator. Don’t apply this medication on your stomach, penis, scrotum, upper arms, or shoulders. Avoid using the medication on the skin with a scrape, cut, or injury. Don’t drink the medicine.
  • Wipe off any medicine that drips or flows using an applicator. Avoid rubbing the solution using your hands or fingers.
  • Metered-dose bottles operated by pumps. Clean the applicator cup with water and then rub dry using a towel. Place the cap and cup back on the bottle.
  • Twist-actuated metered dose bottles Clean the applicator with water and then rub it dry with a cloth. Place the lid back to the bottle.
  • Let the solution dry for at least three minutes before covering the area with clothes. Don’t shower or swim for at least two hours.
  • If a medicine is absorbed into your eyes, wash immediately with water and contact your doctor. Don’t drink the medicine.

After using the gel or solution, it’s crucial to maintain hand hygiene. This not only prevents unintentional transfer to others but also promotes safe application. If you plan to have skin-to-skin contact with someone, ensure you wash the area where you applied the gel with soap and water. And remember, the medicine is flammable until it dries on your skin, so keep it away from heat, open flames, and smoking.
