How to Get Genotropin Pen Device Before Starting.

To avoid infection, wash your hands with soap and water before handling the Genotropin Pen 12.

Take the pen’s front cap off. Remove the metal front section by unscrewing it from the plastic body. Remove the paper from the back of a fresh needle and turn it clockwise to screw it onto the metal portion.

Insert the Cartridge

Use only the 12 mg cartridge. Wipe the metal rubber tip with an alcohol swab. Insert the cartridge into the metal front part of the pen, ensuring the metal tip points toward the needle. Push it firmly into place.

Press the red release button to free the black injection knob. Turn the knob counterclockwise until it stops. Check that the plunger rod is not visible through the window. If it is, press the red button to pull it back.

Hold the metal front part upright and screw it back onto the plastic body. This mixes the diluent with the growth hormone powder. Gently tip the pen side to side to dissolve the powder. Please do not shake it.

• a) Turn the injection knob clockwise with one click.
• b) Hold the pen upright and tap the metal part to move air bubbles to the top.
• c) Push the injection knob in until a drop appears at the needle.
• d) If no liquid comes out, press the red button and turn the knob until it clicks, then repeat steps b and c. If desired, attach the reusable needle guard without touching the needle.

Press the red button to reset the device. The dose display will show 0.0. Turn the knob clockwise until your prescribed dose appears. If you turn too far, turn back to the correct dose. Each click equals 0.2 mg. The maximum dose is 4.0 mg. If you dial more than 4.0 mg, some liquid may come out, which is normal.

Choose an injection site as directed by your healthcare provider. Pinch the skin at the site and insert the pen at a 90-degree angle. Push the pen in fully and press the injection knob until it clicks. Wait 5 seconds before withdrawing the pen.

Remove the needle guard if used. Carefully replace the outer cap on the needle and discard the needle in a proper container. Never reuse a needle. Replace the front cap and store the pen in its protective case in the refrigerator at 2 to 8°C (36 to 46°F) until your next injection.

Next Injection

If a cartridge is already in the pen, prepare and administer your dose: Remove the front cap, attach a new needle, and follow the instructions starting from step 6.

To Replace the Cartridge

Press the red button to reset the pen. Turn the injection knob counterclockwise until it stops. Remove the empty cartridge and discard it properly. Insert a new cartridge and follow the previous instructions.

Store the GENOTROPIN PEN 12 in the refrigerator at 2 to 8°C (36 to 46°F) in its case. Permanently remove the needle before storing it. Do not freeze or expose it to light. Discard the cartridge within 28 days after mixing, even if not empty.

Traveling

Keep the pen in its case and carry it in an insulated bag to protect it from heat or freezing. Please return it to the refrigerator as soon as possible.
